Melamine intoxication scandal

Wir veröffentlichen die soeben eingetroffene Stellungsnahme im Original.

Dear Bob Terry,

Due to melamine intoxication scandal in baby food (and other foods ) in China, we received your question from worried customers, not only in Austria and Asia but even in the USA, who are asking if Green Magma could help in detoxification.

Dear Gerd Pierer

In response to your question about whether Green Magma might be useful to prevent or offset the effects of melamine toxicity, I am afraid there are no studies cited in the literature that are related to the subject. There are no studies I could find on the effects of food, herbs, antioxidants, etc on melamine. Please see a brief write up below.

The chemical melamine is 66% nitrogen by weight and has been used to adulterate products in order to increase their apparent protein content since the measurement of protein is usually performed by measuring the amount of nitrogen present and not by measuring the actual amount of protein. Since melamine is relatively cheap - there is a world surplus of it - unscrupulous companies have used it to dilute products including wheat gluten, milk (and milk products including those found in candy).

In addition to the use of melamine to adulterate foods, it can also be toxic as demonstrated from the thousands of pets and people suffering injury and death following its consumption. Ingested melamine can react with urea and form crystals in the kidneys, leading to kidney stones which eventually destroy renal cells and cause kidney failure. Little is known about the body’s ability to eliminate melamine but it is thought that the crystals may gradually dissolve and would then be excreted out of the kidneys. Drinking copious amounts of water is recommended by some experts but kidney stones should be treated medically.

Green Magma of course does not contain melamine. There are no ingredients in Green Magma or other Green Foods' products that contain melamine. Green Magma is 100% organic and free of gluten and dairy, and it offers superb nutritional support for the whole body including the liver. Since the liver is involved in detoxification, barley grass, especially its chlorophyll content and other support nutrients as well, may theoretically help to speed up the neutralization and elimination of melamine before it accumulates in the kidneys. In addition, the minerals, flavonoids, and other antioxidants in Green Magma help protect the body's cells from potentially toxic intermediate metabolites  formed during the complex multi-stage detoxification process.

However, there are no studies showing that Green Magma, barley grass, vegetables, or other foods or herbs help reduce melamine toxicity. In fact, there are no studies on treating melamine toxicity at all. Anyone with melamine toxicity needs  to be treated by a health care practitioner.

Hope this helps a little. Best regards,
